ADMISSION NOTIFICATION (Entrance Test for Admission into B.Ed., B.Ed. (SE) Programmes - 2015).

The University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University (APOU), was set up on 26thAugust, 1982 through an Act of the A.P. State Legislature (APOU Act 1982). Subsequently, the University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) on 26thOctober 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The establishment of this University, the first of its kind in India, heralded an era of affirmative action on the part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide opportunities of higher education to all sections of society to meet the changing individual and social needs. The University offer Under Graduate / Post Gradate / Research / P.G. Diplomas / Certificate Programmes in various disciplines. All 
the programmes offered by the University are recognised by Distance Education Council (DEC), IGNOU, New Delhi.

The University invites applications for Admission in to B.Ed.,B.Ed.(Special Education)Programmes through Entrance Test.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

The Faculty of Education was set up in November 2004 with the Department of Education. The Department is offering B.Ed. programme, approved by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), from 
2008 in Telugu medium and M.Ed. Programme, approved by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), from 2009 in English medium, and B.Ed. Special Education (SE) Programme in Telugu and 
English media, approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India), from the Academic Year 2009. The Certificate programme in Literacy and Community Development (CLCD) and Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (CECCE) are started in 2011. Subsequently the University has added the Department of the Distance Education to the Faculty.

1. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.Ed.) PROGRAMME:-

The B.Ed. Programme offered by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) is an innovative programme utilizing self-instructional material and information technology along with interactive personal 
contact programmes. It aims at developing understanding and competencies required by practicing teachers for effective teaching-learning process at the secondary stage. The Programme is essentially a judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses to develop the practicing teacher’s knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes. Illustrations and cases of relevant situations and need-based activities comprise the core of each course of the programme.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME: 

The programme aims to enable practising teachers to achieve the following objectives:

• a) To strengthen the professional competencies of in-service teachers.
• b) To develop an understanding of the various methods and approaches of organising learning experiences for secondary school students.
• c) To understand the nature of the learning process and develop skills required in selecting and organising learning experiences.
• d) To develop skills involved in dealing with the academic and personal problems of learners.
• e) To develop skills in selection, development and usage of evaluation tools and to develop an understanding of the various techniques of evaluation in the classroom.
• f) To develop an understanding of various aspects of school management in organising various instructional and co-curricular activities.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

• Minimum period to complete the programme from the date of registration: 2 years
• Maximum period to complete the programme from the date of registration: 5 years

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction is Telugu. A student should write the answers in Year-end- Examination, Assignments and Records, Teaching Practice and Practical Lesson Records only in Telugu.

PROGRAMME FEE

The Programme fee is Rs.20,000/- for the entire programme of two years. The total fee has to be paid at the time of admission in single payment.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR FOR THE B.Ed. ENTRANCE TEST:-

Candidate satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for the entrance test.

1. 1. The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
2. 2. Candidates should have passed/appearing for final year examinations of B.A./B.Sc./ B.Sc.(Home Science)/B.Com./B.E/ B .Tech/ B.C.A./B.B.M. at the time of submitting the Application for B.Ed. Entrance Test. Candidates should be required to produce marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission Counselling, otherwise his/her candidature can’t consider for admission.The candidate must also fulfil the above conditions along with any one of the 3 or 4 of the following.
3. 3. Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
4. 4. Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognised teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.
5. 5. The reservation for SC/ST/BC/PH categories as per the rules in force.
6. 6. Candidate should have completed 21 years as on 01st July, 2015. No upper age limit.

Note: As per the GOMS No: 92, the candidates who passed M.B.B.S/B.D.S/ B.A.M.S./B.L/L.L.B/B.A. (Languages)/B.O.L etc. and other such professional courses are not eligible for admission into B.Ed. course.

ADMISSION

Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test. Only those candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria fixed by the University will be admitted. Centralised admissions will be done on the basis of the score obtained in the Entrance Test conducted by BRAOU. The candidate will be required to submit only the filled-in application form without any enclosures. The enclosures (documents) mentioned in the instructions for filling-in the application form to be submitted later after receiving the letter of offer for admission counselling to B.Ed. from the University after the entrance test. 

ENTRANCE TEST 

 The Question paper of the Entrance will have 3 parts for 100 marks. The details are given below.

1. Part-A General English Comprehension - 25 Marks
2. Part-B Proficiency in Telugu - 25 Marks
3. Part-C General Mental Ability - 50 Marks

SCHEME OF THE ENTRANCE TEST

1. The entrance test will be held on 14-02-2016 from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM
2. Candidates are expected in the examination hall by 10.00 AM.
3. The entrance test will be for 100 Marks with 100 objective type (Multiple Choice) questions and is of 2 hours duration. 
4. The syllabus and the model questions are furnished separately in this booklet.

MEDIUM OF ENTRANCE TEST

The question paper, except General English section, will be in Telugu.

Note: The Qualifying mark in the B.Ed. Entrance Test for all candidates, except SC/ST, is 35. For the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities ranking will be extended below the qualifying mark. 

RANKING

Candidates will be ranked in the order of the merit in the B.Ed. entrance test. In case of candidates getting equal mark, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of tie the marks 
obtained in Part-B and then Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In the case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates, and the older candidates shall be given priority. The rank obtained in B.Ed. Entrance Test is valid for entry into B.Ed. Programme for that academic year 2015-2016 only.

Note: Request for Re-Totalling and Re-valuation or personal identification of scripts will not be entertained. 

EXAMINATION CENTRES

 The Entrance Test will be held at the Regional Coordination Centres of BRAOU.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE CHOICE OF SUBJECT METHODOLOGY IN B.Ed. 

(G.O.Ms.No. 92, Education (SE-Trg-I) Department, dated 16-11-2006 and the amendments thereafter). 

1. i. Mathematics: Candidate with B.A./ B.Sc. / B.E/ B.Tech. with mathematics as subjects or B.C.A candidates with Mathematics at intermediate level as a group subject. 
2. ii. Physical Sciences: Candidates with B.Sc /B.E/B.Tech who have studied Physics and Chemistry or Allied Material Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) at intermediate level as group subject. 
3. iii. Biological Sciences: Candidates with B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Home Science) who have studied Botany and Zoology or Allied Life Sciences under Part - II group subjects or B.C.A. candidates with Biological Sciences at intermediate level as group subject.
4. iv. Social Studies: All candidates with B.A./B.Com./B.B.M. or B.C.A. candidates with Social Sciences at intermediate level as group subject 

Note: The percentage of number of candidates to be admitted in each methodology (subject) in the University 
shall be as follows:

1. (a) Mathematics: 30% 
2. (b) Physical Sciences: 15% 
3. (c) Biological Sciences: 25% 
4. (d) Social Studies: 30%
