The Principal Secretaries School Education of all States/District Education officers Instructed Guidelines Vocationalisation of Secondary Higher Secondary students Class X and external assessment curriculum for which will get completed in class XII followed by external assessment
As you are aware, under the scheme of Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, vocational education is imparted from classes IX to XII in composite government secondary and higher secondary schools. Till now, the students select a particular job role in class IX, whose curriculum was spread over 4 years (till class XII), irrespective of the course content and number of notional hours required for completing the course. Thus, the student studied and trained in a single job role in 4 years.
In order to provide diverse opportunities to school students in the field of vocational education, more job roles in various sectors_peect to be identified which - could be taken up m the schools. For this purpose, workshops were held in PSSCIVE, Bhopal on 04.112016 and 05.01.2017 and in Delhi on 25.01.17 in which representatives of States/MS, PSSCIVE, NSDC and SSCs were present, followed by meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary (SB&L) on 16.05.2017 in which representatives of NCERT, PSSCIVE, NSDA and NSDC were also present. As per the discussions held in the workshops, 100 job roles have been identified and curricula and courseware in respect of these job roles are being developed by PSSCIVE, Bhopal. PSSCIVE has been advised to restructure/review the curriculum in consultation with SSCs keeping in view the notional hours prescribed for them.
As per the discussions held, the list of new job roles has been finalised and is enclosed herewith. The list clearly indicates the job roles, along with the certification levels, which may be taken up in secondary classes (IX and X) and curriculum for which will get completed in class X and external assessment will take place in Class X. Similarly, there are job roles which may be taken up in senior secondary classes (XI and XII), curriculum for which will get completed in class XII followed by external assessment.
The progression of the job roles within the same sector has also been indicated. This will help them to specialise in a particular sector and also provide them greater flexibility after Class X.
It is requested that these job roles may be considered while implementing the scheme of Vocationalisation of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education As per the discussions held, the list of new job roles has been finalised and is enclosed herewith.
